Box Score After a couple weeks off, the OKWU Women's soccer team was ramped up to get back on the pitch as they welcomed the Avila University Eagles to the OKWU Soccer Complex for a 5:30 PM Homecoming 2020 night cap matchup. OKWU got the scoring starting early after Laura Maria was able to find the back of the net off of a great cross from Marjolen Nekesa in the first two minutes of the match to jump out to a 1-0 lead. OKWU would then go on to score 2 more goals before Avila was able to connect on a top corner shot, cutting the OKWU halftime lead to 3-1. Oklahoma Wesleyan was able to fend off a tough Avila squad in the second half as they ramped up the intesity, but OKWU was able to add on another goal to secure a 4-1 victory.
Nekesa finished the evening leading the offense for the Eagles as she collected 2 more goals and an assist to her season totals. Maria helped guide the OKWU attack with a goal and assist of her own. Ruth Khasoha was also able to find the back of the net on a touch from Kayla Beaver late in the first half.
With the win on Homecoming 2020, the OKWU Women's Soccer team improves to 5-0 on the season. They will hit the pitch again on Saturday, October 17th as they will take on the Bethany College Swedes on the road in Lindsborg, Kansas at 1:00 PM.
