Box Score Wednesday night, Mueller Sports Center played host for an epic KCAC match up between OKWU and Kansas Wesleyan. In a down to the wire contest the Eagles were able to outlast the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan and pick up the victory 83-82. At the half the Eagles found themselves down 40-45, part of the defcit came by the Eagles struggle to find success from the 3-pt line as in the first half they were 2/15. The Eagles however did not let this affect the 2nd half as the were able to outscore the Coyotes 43-37. Down the stretch defensive hustle and grit really made the difference for the Eagles. In the final 20 seconds of the game in was the hero of the night, Taylen Miller, who found a wide open lane to the basket to take the 83-82 lead with 6.4 seconds remaining.
Kazden Ammons led the Eagles with 19pts, shooting 7/12 from the field. Ammons also was busy on the defensive side of the ball as he had 5 redbounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. The Eagles also saw both Kaleb Stokes and Dylan Phillip find double figures in the points department. Stokes, 5/11 on the night had 13pts, 6 rebounds which was tied for the most (Miller, 6), an assist, and a steal. Phillip also had 13pts on a 4/10 shooting effort, 3 rebounds, and a steal.
The Eagles now sit 12-5 overall and 9-4 in conference play for the year. The Eagles are back in action Saturday as they are on the road to take on the McPherson College Bulldogs. Tip-off is set for 3PM.
