Lady Eagles Fall to Tabor in KCAC Opener

In Wednesday's home opener, the Lady Eagles came up just short in a 72-63 loss to Tabor. OKWU's loss dropped them to 2-3 on the season and an 0-1 start in the KCAC.

Recap:

  • OKWU came out strong, shooting over 56% in the first quarter to take a 19-16 lead. Zariah Tillman scored 7 points and Melanie Williams scored 8 to propel OKWU to an early lead.
  • OKWU cooled off in the second quarter, and Tabor won the period to give them a slim 30-28 lead at the half.
  • Despite making four 3-pointers in the third quarter, the Lady Eagles were unable to regain the lead and went into the fourth quarter down 8.
  • Tabor's lead swelled to as much as 12 in the fourth period, but the Lady Eagles didn't go away quietly, with under 3 minutes left, they cut the lead to 59-55 after going on a 7-0 run.
  • OKWU never could get any closer, eventually losing by 9 after sending Tabor to the line late in the game.

  • OKWU shot 35% from 3-point land for the evening, draining 7 long-range shots to keep themselves in the game.
  • Tabor earned 27 trips to the foul line, while the Lady Eagles only shot 9 free throws.
  • OKWU forced 17 turnovers but committed 20 during the game.
