Lady Eagles Get Road Win at Saint Mary

A strong defensive performance was the difference for the Lady Eagles on Saturday as they picked up an important early season win on the road at KCAC foe Saint Mary. The Lady Eagles held the Spires to just 29.5% shooting to pick up a 68-50 win.

Recap:

  • Saint Mary held an early edge, winning the first quarter 14-13. OKWU's Brittan Garrett finished the first period with 8 points to keep the Lady Eagles alive early.
  • OKWU's offense got hot in the second quarter, as the team scored 20 points to take the lead. MaKayla Watkins hit 3 shots from long-range in the period.
  • At the half, OKWU led 33 to 26.
  • In the third quarter, a stingy Eagle defense allowed just 15.8% shooting and held the Spires to just 10 points. The OKWU lead was 12 going into the final quarter.
  • OKWU hit 66.7% of its shots in the final period, adding another 20 points and putting the Spires away in an 18 point victory.
