Box Score On Saturday afternoon OKWU women's basketball team faced the Avila University Lady Eagles. OKWU had a rough start, but was able to keep the game close with a lead of 36-32 heading into halftime. The OKWU Eagles came out strong in the second half and took over the game with a strong finish to get the win over the Avila Eagles 73-61. OKWU on the night was helped out by their strong shooting performance as they were able to out shoot Avila, 43% to 40%.
Hannah Nealis helped lead the Eagles on the offensive end as she had a career high with 28 points and 5 rebounds. OKWU's offense was also led by
Makayla Watkins and
Melanie Williams. Watkins finished with 10 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. Williams also was able to tally 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. Defensively OKWU was led by
Danae Goodwin and
Antonia Porter. Goodwin collected 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and a block, while Porter finished with a team high 7 rebounds and a block.
The OKWU women's basketball team now sits at 9-8 on the season in conference play and 10-11 overall. The Lady Eagles will prepare to take on Tabor University on the road this upcoming Wednesday, February 17th. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm in Hillsboro, Kansas.
