Box Score On Saturday night, the OKWU Lady Eagles faced Tabor College in the Semifinal round of the KCAC Conference Tournament. The lady's were coming off a big win in the quarterfinal round to get them to this point , but came out shooting a little cold to get started. With going down 7 in the first quarter, they started heating up up to take a 48-44 lead going into the 4th. However it seemed like the fire wore out too soon, and the stellar shooting and defense that got them to this point finally wore off. Tabor heated up late to put the Lady Eagles away, and end their season with a 66-70 lose.
Makayla Watkins lead the team in points with 17, right behind her was Danae Goodwin who added 16. It was Brittan Garrett again adding 13 off the bench to try and give the team a boost.
The Lady Eagles played hard until the final buzzer with an attempt to comeback late in the game due to some missed free throws from Tabor, they just did not have enough juice. Well although we are losing a couple of seniors, there might be one who is coming back due to extra eligibility granted due to the past COVID year. If comparing the team that we saw starting the season to the team that we see now, we would see no comparison. The way that Coach Hadley and her Assistants worked this team into great shape is great news for next season. With bright spots off the bench, to an offensive assault of a starting unit, there is a lot of good things that can be of next season.
