Box Score On Wednesday April 7th, the Lady Eagles, #13 ranked team in the country, traveled to the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders in the KCAC tournament semifinals match. In the prior meeting between the two teams the Lady Eagles traveled to Winfield and took the win over Southwestern College 5-0.
On Wednesday, we saw another game that resembled the previous matchup between the two teams with identical scores. The Lady Eagles did not get as quick of a start as they might have liked; however, the first goal came for the Lady Eagles in the 11th minute of the game. The Lady Eagles would go on to score 3 times in the first half courtesy of: Kayla Beaver (10:44), Laura Maria (13:56), and Marjolen Nekesa (28:27). Laura Maria would also be credited with as assist with Marjolen Nekesa's goal.
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Eagles looked to further extend their lead over the Moundbuilders. They achieved this by scoring two more goals in the half. The two goals in the second half were scored by Tania Mocholi (59:07), and Laura Maria (77:27). Laura Maria recorded another assist on Tania Mocholi's goals, and Chloe Johnson recorded an assist on Laura Maria's goal.
Throughout the matchup, the Lady Eagles outshot the Moundbuilders 29-6 (SOG 10-2). Laura Maria led the scoring and assists for the Lady Eagles with her two goals and two assists.
The #1 seeded Lady Eagles will take on the #2 seeded Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. This KCAC tournament championship match will take place on Saturday, April 10th at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS. The matchup is scheduled to start at 1:00pm
