Women's Basketball was home on November 18th as they hosted the Ottawa University Braves for their 2nd conference match-up of the regular season. Looking to turn a leaf and bounce back after a fall to the Bethany College Swedes, the Lady Eagles started off quick and looked consistent in the paint.
Starting the game with an 8-0 lead in the first 5 minutes, the Lady Eagles were consistent as six different Lady Eagles put points on the board to give them the 21-19 lead over the Lady Braves in the first 10 minutes of play. Heading into the 2nd quarter with the lead, both teams were eager to get more points on the board. Going back and forth, regaining the lead as time permitted.
Ending the first half 36-30 in favor of the Lady Eagles, the Lady Eagles were strong and steady. Slowing after two strong quarters, the Lady Eagles went on to only score 2 points in the 3rd quarter, giving Ottawa the lead heading into the final quarter. Completely bouncing back, the Lady Eagles went on to score 19 points in the 4th, tying the game with seconds left of regulation.
The Lady Eagles and Lady Braves were forced into 2 overtime periods of 5 minutes each in order for a game winner to be earned. Falling to the Lady Braves 73-68 in double overtime, the Lady Eagles move to 1-6 overall.
Rashaan Smith had herself another superb night for the Lady Eagles, scoring 22 points and accumulating 14 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. River Jeffries was also strong for the Lady Eagles, scoring 11 points with 5 rebounds.
