The #7 Men's Basketball team was in Bartlesville for a conference match-up with the Evangel University Valor on January 10th for a 7:30 PM tip-off. Looking at a top conference match-up, the Eagles needed to keep their energy up and gain momentum as time went on. Entering the match 13-1, the Eagles looked to build their conference record of 7-1.
Starting off the first seven minutes on absolute fire, the Eagles took a 24-2 lead, not allowing the Valor to score until the 5th minute of play. An explosive offense, and a consistent defense enabled the Eagles to start out hot and take the first half 43-26. The Valor fought back quickly in the second half, giving them the closest trail of 11 points 6 minutes in; looking to push the Eagles and gain ground on the score.
Regaining control of the game, the Eagles went on to take the KCAC match-up 85-56 from the Valor and improved to 8-1 in conference play. Kaleb Stokes earned a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds in his 24 minutes of play, along with 3 assists and 1 steal. DJ Talton Jr. led the Eagles offensively with 19 points and added to his national lead with 4 steals on the night.
4 Eagles scored double digit points against the Valor, along with 12 3's on the night from various Eagles. Outrebounding and turnovers led greatly to the Eagles victory.
