The Lady Eagles were on the road on Saturday, January 20th for a conference match-up with the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. With this game being the halfway mark for the second half of the season, the Lady Eagles came into the game looking to reestablish momentum going into the end of the regular season.
Both teams played well in the 1st quarter and had plenty of energy coming out of the gate. The Lady Eagles and Coyotes were side-by-side until the 2nd quarter when the Eagles began to create some separation. The Lady Eagle defense held the Coyotes to 11 points in the second half, resulting in a 35-29 score going into halftime.
The Lady Coyotes, however, came out of the 3rd quarter shooting. The Lady Eagles quickly responded and were able to maintain their lead through the entire quarter. As the Lady Eagles looked to keep their lead and secure the win, and the Coyotes looked to flip things around, the 4th quarter. Fortunately, the Lady Eagles were able to keep the Coyotes at a comfortable distance the entire quarter, resulting in a 68-61 victory.
This win was pivotal for the Lady Eagles as they enter the homestretch of their season. Zariah Tillman was very impressive for the Lady Eagles with 17 points, 4 steals, and 8 rebounds. Following Tillman's lead was Haley Meely and River Jeffries, scoring 14 and 13 points, respectively. Jaelin Glass also heavily contributed with her 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. This win proved to be a result of excellent team work with the Lady Eagles.
