Lady Eagles Blowout the Swedes 62-38

Box Score

Bartlesville, OK –

The Women's Basketball team was home on January 27th for a KCAC match-up with the Bethany College Swedes. Coming off of an exciting win over the McPherson College Bulldogs earlier in the week, the Lady Eagles looked to keep their win streak alive and improve it to three wins.

Starting off the first quarter hot, the Lady Eagles were consistent with their pace and continued to push the ball into the paint in order to get ahead 17-10 over the Swedes. With a seven-point lead heading into the 2nd quarter, the Lady Eagles needed to stay strong offensively and maintain momentum. Doing exactly that, the Lady Eagle went on to have their best quarter of four, scoring 22 points and forcing a solid number of turnovers from the Lady Swedes. Haley Meely has proved to be a gamechanger for the Lady Eagles, leading them through the first half against the Lady Swedes on both sides of the court.

Entering the second half with a 29-17 lead, the Lady Eagles were looked to continue their strong drives and create more turnovers leading to points with their strong defense. Letting up slightly in the 3rd quarter, the Lady Eagles scored 11 points under the 13 points scored from the Lady Swedes. With their large first half lead, the Lady Eagles were able to stay ahead but needed to come out in the 4th with better energy. The Lady Eagles went on to defeat the Lady Swedes 62-38, giving them their greatest win this season.

Haley Meely and Zariah Tillman were once again superb for the Lady Eagle. Leading the team to victory on both sides of the floor. Meely ended her night with 15 points, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds while Tillman capped the game with 13 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists.
