Volleyball Concludes Their 2024 Season in Sioux City, Iowa

OKWU Volleyball

Sioux City, Iowa –

The #9 Volleyball team traveled to Sioux City, Iowa for the final site of the National Tournament and a chance at a National Championship for the second consecutive season this early December. Put into Pool G, the Lady Eagles were set to face off against a familiar face, McPherson College and St. Thomas.

Falling short in their first match-up against the McPherson College Bulldogs, the Lady Eagles played a hard 5 sets, falling 15-13 in the 5th. Although the Lady Eagles fell, they accumulated impressive numbers, career highs, and 1 national tournament record. Maia Rubio had the game of her life, ending the 5-set play with a career high 29 kills, which is also the NAIA National Tournament record. Sydney Collins gave way to a career high 65 assists from the setter position as she just reached her 3000 career assists mark earlier this season. Lastly, sophomore libero Malu Caycedo earned a career high 30 digs, leading the Lady Eagles defensively and being stellar in the back court for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Eagles fell short in a 3 set battle to the undefeated St. Thomas Bobcats, causing the Lady Eagles to bow out of the National Tournament.
