The Lady Eagles were back on the road for an important matchup against the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday, February 7th. Looking to regain momentum as they enter the last few games of the season, the Lady Eagles were excited for this matchup.
The Lady Eagles came out of the gate hot, scoring 14 straight points in just over 4 minutes. Their offense kept pouring it on in the first quarter, ending the quarter with a score of 25-8. Things began to slow down for the Lady Eagles as they entered the second quarter. Their offense began to slow down while the Moundbuilders offense was getting hot. After a dominant first quarter, the Moundbuilders came back to cut the Lady Eagles lead to 8 points.
Entering the 3rd quarter, the Lady Eagles defense took it up a notch. As a result of a few blocked shots and multiple steals, they were able to keep their lead over the Moundbuilders. After a slower 3rd quarter for the Lady Eagle offense, they were able to put up 27 points. Led by Haley Meely with her 9 points in the 4th quarter, the Lady Eagles were able to maintain their lead over Southwestern to a 85-72 victory.
Shade Richardson was phenomenal for the Lady Eagles off the bench. Scoring 19 points in her 24 minutes of play. Haley Meely also put up an impressive stat line with 16 points, 5 steals, and 7 assists. Additionally, Jaelin Glass and Zariah Tillman each contributed 13 points to the Lady Eagles win.
