Bartlesville, OK —
OKWU women's basketball put up a good fight but came up just short in a 62-58 loss to Kansas Wesleyan in a tightly contested KCAC matchup at Mueller Sports Center.
The Eagles came out strong, leading 19-12 after the first quarter, fueled by sharp shooting from Gracie Alexander and Kamryn Phoenix. However, Kansas Wesleyan fought back in the second quarter, outscoring OKWU 14-9 to cut the deficit to two at halftime.
The second half was a back-and-forth battle. The Lady Eagles held their ground in the third quarter, matching KWU point-for-point, but the Lady Coyotes surged late, securing their win in the fourth quarter. Despite the loss, the Eagles showcased resilience, tying the game multiple times and keeping the margin within single digits until the final seconds.
The Eagles shot 44.4% from the field and 26.3% from three-point range, but free-throw struggles and turnovers in key moments proved costly. OKWU now sits at 3-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play, looking to bounce back in their next matchup. They will face Haskell Indians Nations University on November 25th, at 5:30 PM where they will look to earning a win and spark some momentum moving deeper in the season. Go Eagles!
