Lady Eagles Win Five-Set Thriller to Advance to NAIA Final Site

Bartlesville, OK — 
The Oklahoma Wesleyan University women's volleyball team delivered a postseason thriller on Saturday afternoon, battling past Nelson University in a five-set battle during the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round. With an energized crowd inside the Mueller Sports Center, the Lady Eagles fought through intense rallies, momentum swings, and late-set pressure to earn a 3–2 victory and secure their trip to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Nelson claimed the opening set 25–20, but Oklahoma Wesleyan answered strongly. The Lady Eagles dominated sets two and three behind sharp attacking and suffocating defense, winning 25–11 and 25–15 while holding the visitors to .032 and .000 hitting percentages in those frames. Nelson regrouped in set four, edging OKWU 25–21 to force a decisive fifth. In the final race to 15, Oklahoma Wesleyan stayed composed, delivering clutch points down the stretch to close out the match 15–13. 

Offensively, Evelyn Rohrberg led the charge with a match-high 22 kills while hitting .364, adding two aces and four block assists for a team-leading 26 points. Maria Andrea Santa Cruz Cossich tallied 14 kills on .310 hitting and contributed three block assists, while Maia Rubio added 13 kills, two aces, and 14 digs in a strong two-way performance. 

OKWU's middles made a major impact at the net. Iva Mrkaic was nearly flawless with 5 kills on .556 hitting and 6 block assists, while Tijana Stojiljkovic posted 5 kills, 2 solo blocks, and 4 block assists, delivering critical points in the fifth set. 

Setter Sydney Collins steered the offense with 51 assists and added nine digs and two blocks. Libero Maria Luisa Caycedo anchored the back row with a team-high 19 digs while also contributing a service ace. 

As a team, the Lady Eagles out-hit Nelson .237 to .204 and dominated defensively with 19 total blocks. With the win, Oklahoma Wesleyan improves to 26–3 and advances to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, adding another milestone to a standout season.
