OKWU women's volleyball team battled fiercely but fell short in a five-set heartbreaker against Evangel University, dropping the match 3-2.
The Lady Eagles started strong, taking the first and third sets behind powerful offensive performances from Evelyn Rohrberg and Maia Rubio. Rohrberg led the team with 23 kills and 24.5 points, while Rubio added 20 kills and 21 points. Setter Sydney Collins contributed 52 assists, helping OKWU maintain rhythm throughout the match.
Despite the early momentum, Evangel responded dominating the secnd, fourth, and fifth sets. Oklahoma Wesleyan struggled to maintain consistency in the final frame, hitting just .130 compared to Evangel's .318.
The loss marks Oklahoma Wesleyan's second defeat in conference play, bringing their record to 21-3 overall and 10-2 in the KCAC . With postseason play approaching, the Lady Eagles will look to regroup and refocus as they aim for a strong finish to an otherwise stellar season.
