OKWU women's volleyball team continued their stellar season with a commanding straight-set victory over Sterling College on Saturday morning at Sterling University. The Lady Eagles bounce back from a loss in their last matchup against Evangel Univeristy, now boasting a 22-3 overall record and 11-2 in conference play, with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-13.
Leading the charge was Evelyn Rohrberg, who delivered a powerhouse performance with 20 kills, hitting an impressive .548 and adding 3 service aces and 8 digs to her stat line. Maria Santa Cruz Cossich also made her presence felt with 13 kills and a solid .385 hitting percentage, while Tijana Stojiljkovic contributed 9 kills on a scorching .727 efficiency.
Setter Sydney Collins tallied 35 assists, helping the Lady Eagles hit .330 as a team across the match. Defensively, Maia Rubio led with 15 digs, anchoring a back row that kept Sterling's attack at bay.
Oklahoma Wesleyan dominated each set, steadily increasing their control as the match progressed. The Eagles out-hit Sterling in every frame, including a third set where they posted a .364 hitting percentage compared to Sterling's .029.
With this win, the Lady Eagles continue to solidify their position as one of the top teams in the conference and the nation. Their next challenge will be crucial as they aim to maintain momentum heading into game one of the KCAC Conference Tournament on November 11th, at 6:00 PM. Go Eagles!
