OKWU men's basketball continued its dominant run in KCAC play, defeating Southwestern 81-76 at Home on Wednesday night. The victory pushes the Eagles to 10-1 overall and a flawless 6-0 in conference action.
OKWU jumped out to a 42–35 halftime lead behind hot shooting from deep, connecting on seven first-half threes. Temaje Izuagbe led the charge with 18 points, including two triples, while Nick Bene and Humberto Kentish Jr. added 10 points apiece. Yashi McKenzie provided a spark off the bench with 11 points, and Ethan Williams chipped in nine.
The Eagles shot 47.7% from the field and 45.5% from beyond the arc, knocking down 10-of-22 three-pointers. Though free throws were a struggle (9-of-16), OKWU's depth proved decisive, as the bench contributed 28 points. The team also dominated inside with 36 points in the paint and converted 15 points off turnovers.
Southwestern made a late push, trimming a 15-point second-half deficit to single digits, but OKWU held firm down the stretch to secure the win and maintain its spot atop the KCAC standings. The Eagles next opponent will be Bethel College as the Eagles will host on December 13th at 3:00 PM. Go Eagles!
