Isabella Simoneau and Ana Chavez Send the Lady Eagles to the NAIA Women’s Soccer Semifinals with Quarterfinal Win Over Marian University

Pensacola, Fla. —

OKWU women's soccer team continued its historic postseason run with a 1-0 victory over Marian University in the NAIA National Tournament quarterfinals on December 4, earning the program's first-ever trip to the national semifinals.

After a tense, scoreless first half, the breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Isabelle Simoneau rose above the defense to head home a looping cross from Ana Chavez, giving OKWU the decisive goal. Simoneau's finish marked her 10th goal of the season and showcased the Eagles' ability to capitalize in high-pressure moments.

The match was a defensive battle throughout, with Marian holding a slight edge in shots and forcing OKWU goalkeeper Alessandra Martinez into action. Martinez delivered a stellar performance, recording seven saves to secure her 16th shutout of the year. OKWU's back line, led by Elise Lofnertz and Ana Chavez, absorbed heavy pressure in the closing minutes as Marian pushed for an equalizer.

The Eagles generated momentum late, earning three corner kicks in the final 10 minutes and nearly doubling their lead when Kylie Reif sent a header just wide in the 86th minute. With the victory, Oklahoma Wesleyan improved to 21-1-2, continuing a season defined by dominance and resilience. The Lady Eagles now advance to the NAIA semifinals for the first time in program history, where they will look to build on this milestone and chase a national championship.
