Baseball Wins Series Over Kansas Wesleyan University

Bartlesville, OK—

Game 1: OKWU Eagles Get Ahead in the Series, Winning Game One 16-7

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles made a powerful statement Thursday afternoon, opening their three-game series against Kansas Wesleyan with a dominant 16-7 victory at home in Bartlesville.

From the jump, OKWU's offense came out swinging and never let up. Center fielder Ravaughn Morgan set the tone with a monster day at the plate, going 5-for-6 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. He was the spark that kept the Eagles' offense in full flight. Designated hitter Victor Sanchez matched that energy, also driving in three runs, including a homer, while left fielder Connor Hickey chipped in with two RBIs of his own. The Eagles pounded out 16 hits on the day with four of them HR and showed great patience at the plate, drawing nine walks. KWU pitchers struggled to find rhythm as OKWU took advantage of nearly every opportunity, combining sharp base running with timely hitting to apply constant pressure.

Evan Foor started on the mound of the OKWU Eagles and pitched a solid 5.2 innings against KWU. Alan Covarrubias and Aden Brothers would take over closing the last 3.1 innings of the game. Both showcased their ability to close a game with commanding and impressive pitching. Together all three pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts and only allowed 10 hits and 7 earned runs.

Game 2: OKWU Drops Game Two Losing 6-1, Evening Out The Series

After an explosive offensive showing in Game 1, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles struggled to replicate their success in Game 2 of the series against Kansas Wesleyan, falling 6-1.

On the mound for OKWU, Michael Mendoza had moments of brilliance, fanning 11 batters over 6.1 innings. However, control issues and timely hitting by KWU proved costly. Mendoza took the loss despite allowing just two earned runs. Matthew Weidkamp finished out the final 2.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.

OKWU bats had no luck at the plate in game two. Granted KWU's starting pitcher had a good outing, the Eagles still had solid contact and consistent barrels throughout the game but could not find any green grass. OKWU had plenty of opportunities to score but KWU would make some impressive and timely defensive plays that allowed them to maintain a 6-1 lead.

Game 3: Eagles Clinch Series with Commanding Game 3 Victory Over KWU 10-6

Oklahoma Wesleyan closed out their three-game series with a statement, defeating Kansas Wesleyan 10-6 to take the series two games to one. Behind a balanced offensive effort and key contributions from the bullpen, the Eagles demonstrated resilience and firepower to bounce back from a Game 2 loss.

Right fielder Javier Marcial set the tone early for OKWU, going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, while first baseman Jorge Aldrete delivered the big blow with a three-run homer that gave the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish. Luis Antigua continued his hot series with a 3-for-4 performance, driving in two and swiping a base. OKWU piled on 10 runs on 10 hits and capitalized on Kansas Wesleyan's pitching, drawing five walks and forcing three hit-by-pitches. Designated hitter Victor Sanchez added an RBI single, and center fielder Ravaughn Morgan drove in two more to cap a productive weekend at the plate.

On the mound, Jacob Morgan earned the win for Oklahoma Wesleyan, tossing 5.1 innings while allowing four earned runs on five hits. Carson Frazier and Braelen Pippin closed the door with solid relief outings, combining to allow just two runs over the final 2.2 innings.

Despite Kansas Wesleyan pushing across six runs on eight hits, the Eagles' early offensive burst and timely defense, including a crucial double play that kept KWU from mounting a serious comeback.

Oklahoma Wesleyan University delivered a strong statement taking two out of three games from Kansas Wesleyan in a pivotal KCAC showdown. The series win not only strengthens the Eagles' position in the standings but also builds momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play. Across the series, OKWU showed balance on both sides of the ball by combining power, plate discipline, and timely pitching to secure the series win over a competitive KWU squad.

Now sitting near the top of the KCAC standings, Oklahoma Wesleyan will turn its attention to its final regular-season opponent, the Ottawa Braves. The upcoming series will be the Eagles' last tune-up before the start of the KCAC Tournament. GO Eagles!
