Softball Splits Series With Sterling at Home

Bartlesville, OK—

Game 1: OKWU Falls Short in Series Opener to Sterling 11-4

Despite the loss, the Lady Eagles battled at the plate and showed some bright spots offensively. Maddy Wiese continued her strong season with a 3-for-3 day and a 2-RBI double. Raegan Rector chipped in with a pair of hits and an RBI, while Jessica Watson drove in a run on a productive groundout.

The pitching staff faced a deep and disciplined Sterling lineup, as four OKWU pitchers combined to cover the seven innings. Despite giving up 11 runs, several defensive plays and groundouts helped limit further damage.

Game 2: Oklahoma Wesleyan Outshines Sterling in Strong 8-2 Victory

Oklahoma Wesleyan bounced back in impressive fashion, securing an 8-2 win over Sterling College in their latest matchup, fueled by an offensive surge that saw the Lady Eagles collect 15 hits and capitalize on timely scoring opportunities.

The game was highlighted by strong performances up and down the lineup. Raegan Rector led the charge with a standout 3-for-4 day, including a home run and 2 RBIs. Alyssa Olivas also contributed a solid 2-for-4 performance, driving in a run, while Jessica Watson's 2-for-4 outing, including 3 RBIs, helped propel the team to a comfortable victory. Brooklyn Purtell added another multi-hit game to her resume, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Maddy Wiese and Raegan Rector each added key contributions at the plate.

The offensive support was complemented by solid pitching from Saige Lovelle, who went the distance in a 7-inning performance, allowing just 2 runs and striking out 2. Lovelle kept Sterling's batters off balance throughout, limiting them to 5 hits while walking 2.

The OKWU Lady Eagles lost game 1 against Sterling but had no problem bouncing back in game 2. They did a great Job showing their resilience, offensive, and defensive skills that earned them the win in Game 2. The Lady Eagles move forward and will face off against McPherson on Tuesday April 22nd. Go Eagles!
