The Oklahoma Wesleyan men's basketball team delivered a strong performance at home on Saturday afternoon, pulling away from Bethany College for an 89–57 victory at the Mueller Sports Center. The win improves the Eagles to 20–2 overall and 15–1 in conference play.
Oklahoma Wesleyan set the tone early with an aggressive offensive attack, jumping out to an early lead behind efficient shooting and strong ball movement. The Eagles controlled the pace throughout the opening half, building a 50–34 advantage at the half after shooting over 54 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.
The Eagles continued to apply pressure in the second half, extending the lead with consistent scoring in the paint and forcing Bethany into difficult possessions. Oklahoma Wesleyan outscored the Swedes 39–23 after halftime and never allowed the visitors to regain momentum.
Ethan Williams led the Eagles with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding two steals and providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor. Malachi Okunbor added 11 points, while Isaac Stanek and Nathaniel Law each chipped in 10 points. Angel Hidalgos also finished in double figures with 10 points off the bench. Oklahoma Wesleyan's depth proved to be a key factor, as the Eagles totaled 54 bench points in the win.
The Eagles finished the game shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc, while holding Bethany to just 36.2 percent shooting. Oklahoma Wesleyan also controlled the glass, outrebounding the Swedes 35–23, and scored 40 points in the paint.
Oklahoma Wesleyan returns to action next Wednesday as the Eagles head to Southwestern College for another conference matchup.
