Eagles Battle to Scoreless Draw Against McPherson in KCAC Road Matchup

Men's Soccer

McPHERSON, Kan. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University men's soccer team battled through 90 minutes of Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) action on Saturday afternoon, earning a 0-0 draw against McPherson College. Despite controlling the attacking opportunities and applying consistent pressure in the final third, the Eagles were unable to find the breakthrough goal.

Oklahoma Wesleyan dictated much of the offensive tempo throughout the contest, outshooting the Bulldogs 13-4 while placing eight attempts on frame. The Eagles consistently pushed forward, creating scoring opportunities through their attacking movement and possession in the midfield.

Ronardo Burgher spearheaded the Eagles' offensive attack, recording a match-high six shots, including four on target. Nasreddine Benbella added two shots on goal, while Mateja Bozic contributed two attempts as OKWU continued searching for the back of the net.

The Eagles established their attacking presence early, registering six first-half shots while limiting McPherson to just one attempt. Despite generating four shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes, Oklahoma Wesleyan entered the halftime break deadlocked at 0-0.

Coming out of the interval, OKWU continued pressing forward, increasing its attacking intensity and creating opportunities from set pieces. The Eagles earned five second-half corner kicks and registered seven additional shots, keeping the Bulldogs' back line under pressure.

Defensively, Oklahoma Wesleyan delivered another disciplined performance, limiting McPherson to just four total shots and three attempts on target. Goalkeeper Marko Rodic anchored the Eagles between the posts, recording three saves across the full 90 minutes to preserve the clean sheet.

The Eagles' defensive unit remained organized throughout the contest, shutting down McPherson's attacking opportunities and preventing the Bulldogs from finding space in dangerous areas of the final third.

Despite Oklahoma Wesleyan's advantage in shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks, McPherson goalkeeper Alvaro Marchal turned away all eight attempts on frame to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.

The scoreless result moves Oklahoma Wesleyan to 9-1-2 overall and 7-1-1 in KCAC competition. Although the Eagles were unable to secure all three points on the road, the performance highlighted their continued defensive consistency and ability to generate attacking chances against conference opposition.
