Women's Soccer

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Oklahoma Wesleyan University women's soccer team continued its impressive run through Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) competition Wednesday evening, delivering a commanding 5-0 shutout victory over the University of Saint Mary Spires. The Lady Eagles showcased their offensive firepower and defensive discipline, controlling the tempo throughout the match to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Oklahoma Wesleyan wasted little time establishing its attacking presence, applying pressure in the final third and creating scoring opportunities. The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Frederikke Nielsen found the back of the net off an assist from Isabelle Simoneau, giving the Lady Eagles an early 1-0 advantage.

Nielsen struck again in the 34th minute, completing her brace after connecting on a feed from Mesa Broquard. The second goal doubled OKWU's advantage and sent the Lady Eagles into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles carried their attacking momentum into the second half, continuing to dictate possession and challenge the Saint Mary back line. In the 62nd minute, Simoneau added her name to the scoresheet with an unassisted finish, extending Oklahoma Wesleyan's lead to 3-0.

OKWU continued to press forward in the closing stages, with Taylor Welker capitalizing on another attacking opportunity in the 82nd minute. Broquard provided the assist, recording her second helper of the evening as the Lady Eagles pushed their advantage to 4-0.

Just over two minutes later, Welker completed her own brace in the 84th minute, finishing an opportunity created by Mariajose Rosas to seal the 5-0 victory.

Oklahoma Wesleyan's attacking unit dominated the statistical battle, outshooting Saint Mary 28-5, including a commanding 21-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Lady Eagles also earned six corner kicks while limiting the Spires to just one, highlighting OKWU's sustained pressure in the attacking third.

Nielsen led the offensive charge with two goals on seven shots, placing five attempts on frame. Welker provided an immediate spark off the bench with two goals, while Simoneau contributed a goal and an assist. Broquard played a key role in the buildup, finishing with two assists.

Defensively, the Lady Eagles remained organized across the back line, limiting Saint Mary's opportunities and protecting their clean sheet. Goalkeeper Alessandra Martinez played all 90 minutes between the posts as Oklahoma Wesleyan secured another conference shutout.

With the victory, Oklahoma Wesleyan improves to 11-2-2 overall and 10-0-0 in KCAC play, continuing its dominant conference campaign. The Lady Eagles will look to carry their momentum forward as they push toward the final stretch of the regular season.
