Oklahoma Wesleyan baseball earned an 11-5 win over Southwestern College on Tuesday afternoon, improving to 20-12 overall and 13-8 in conference play.
The Eagles got on the board early with a sacrifice fly from JT Maloney in the first inning. After Southwestern responded with two runs, Oklahoma Wesleyan answered with a four-run third inning, highlighted by RBI efforts from Daurys Manzanillo, Maloney, and Gilbert Morales to take control.
Oklahoma Wesleyan added to the lead with a run in the fourth and three more in the seventh. Southwestern made a push with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Eagles responded with two insurance runs in the ninth behind RBI singles from Jose Parreno and Devonte Bailey.
The Eagles finished with 11 hits, led by Manzanillo and Parreno with three hits each. Parreno drove in two runs, while Wally Diaz, Maloney, and Morales each added two RBIs.
Jacob Morgan earned the win, going six innings and allowing three runs, one earned, while striking out five. Alan Covarrubias closed the door with 2.2 scoreless innings.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will return to action this weekend as they travel to York for a conference series on Friday and Saturday.
