Lady Eagles Bounce Back with Run-Rule Win to Earn Split

Bartlesville, OK-

The Oklahoma Wesleyan Lady Eagles wrapped up their final home games of the season on Thursday with a split against Bethany, falling 3–2 in game one before responding with an 8–0 run-rule victory in game two. With the result, OKWU moves to 36-10 overall and 19-5 in conference play.

Game one saw a tight battle throughout, with both teams trading early runs. Abby Huie tied things up in the second inning with an RBI double, and the Lady Eagles took a 2–1 lead in the third on a sacrifice fly from Brooklyn Purtell. However, Bethany answered in the fifth with a two-run home run to reclaim the lead. OKWU threatened late, tallying six hits on the day, but could not push across the equalizer. Huie led the offense with an RBI and a double, while Maria Fory added a run scored. In the circle, Addison Dorsay went 4.1 innings, allowing three runs, while Abigail Rogers provided a strong relief effort with four strikeouts in 2.2 scoreless innings.

The Lady Eagles responded in a big way in game two, using a fast start and consistent offensive pressure to secure an 8–0 win. OKWU struck first in the opening inning with a two-RBI single from Gracie Jones, then continued to build momentum with runs in the third and fifth innings. The breakthrough came in the sixth, when Brooklyn Purtell launched a three-run home run to extend the lead and seal the run-rule victory. Purtell finished with three RBIs, while Jones also drove in three. Maddie Ogle added two RBIs and went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. In the circle, Yina Vargas was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits and striking out eight to earn the win.

Oklahoma Wesleyan now heads into its final regular season doubleheader on Saturday against Ottawa.
