Game 1 – Kansas Wesleyan 6, Oklahoma Wesleyan 5
Oklahoma Wesleyan University fell just short in the series opener, dropping a tightly contested 6–5 decision to Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at OKWU.
Kansas Wesleyan struck first in the opening inning, but the Lady Eagles answered immediately as A. Huie tripled to lead off the bottom of the first and scored on an RBI groundout by K. Withem. Oklahoma Wesleyan took the lead in the second inning when Maria Fory launched a solo home run to give the Eagles a 2–1 advantage.
After the Coyotes moved back in front with a two-run third inning, Oklahoma Wesleyan responded with two runs of its own. RBI hits from K/ Withem and B. Purtell highlighted the inning as the Eagles reclaimed a 4–3 lead.
Kansas Wesleyan tied the game in the fifth and pushed ahead in the seventh with two unearned runs. The Lady Eagles made one final push in the bottom of the seventh when B. Purtell connected on a solo home run to cut the deficit to one, but Oklahoma Wesleyan was unable to complete the rally.
B. Purtell led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run, while A. Huie, K. Withem, and M. Fory also delivered key hits.
Game 2 – Kansas Wesleyan 5, Oklahoma Wesleyan 4
The Lady Eagles were again edged in a close contest during Game 2, falling 5–4 as Kansas Wesleyan scored three runs in the seventh inning to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Kansas Wesleyan plated single runs in the first and second innings to take an early 2–0 lead. Oklahoma Wesleyan broke through in the fifth inning with a three-run rally, sparked by an RBI double from A. Huie and an RBI single from M. Ogle, giving the Eagles a 3–2 advantage.
The Coyotes responded in the top of the seventh, capitalizing on timely hitting to score three runs and move ahead 5–3. Oklahoma Wesleyan attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the inning as M. Ogle drove in M. Fory with an RBI single, but the Eagles were unable to bring the tying run home.
M. Ogle paced the offense in Game 2, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while A. Huie, K. Withem, and B. Gustus each recorded multiple hits.
