NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University Men's Soccer delivered an offensive masterclass Saturday afternoon, overwhelming Bethel College (Kan.) in an 11-0 shutout victory. The Eagles controlled the match from the opening whistle, scoring five times in the first half before adding six more after the break. The win moves OKWU to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Oklahoma Wesleyan wasted no time establishing its attacking presence. Just 1:43 into the match, Eguzki Hashimoto opened the scoring off a feed from Nasreddine Benbella. Chafik El Idrissi doubled the advantage in the seventh minute before Carter Ligi found the back of the net just over a minute later, assisted by Ronardo Burgher. With three goals inside the opening eight minutes, the Eagles immediately seized control of the tempo.
Ligi struck again in the 19th minute, finishing another Benbella assist to complete his brace and extend the OKWU advantage to 4-0. The Eagles continued applying pressure in the attacking third, and Colon Valeriano made it 5-0 in the 23rd minute after Santiago Mejia's header came off the crossbar. OKWU carried the five-goal cushion into halftime after producing 15 shots and six corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes.
The Eagles remained on the front foot coming out of the interval. Hashimoto completed his brace just 20 seconds into the second half, with Benbella supplying his third assist of the afternoon. Alejandro Aleman Lopez joined the scoring in the 51st minute off an assist from El Idrissi, pushing the advantage to 7-0.
OKWU's depth continued to make an impact as the match progressed. Benbella capped an outstanding individual performance with a goal of his own in the 72nd minute, finishing a service from Niko Vasileiou. Marcos Vidan followed with a goal in the 78th minute before turning provider less than 30 seconds later, setting up Mateja Bozic for the Eagles' 10th goal. Bozic then completed his brace with just 11 seconds remaining to put the finishing touch on the 11-0 result.
Benbella served as the engine of the OKWU attack, finishing with one goal and three assists, while Ligi, Hashimoto and Bozic each recorded braces. In total, eight different Eagles found the back of the net, showcasing the depth and versatility of the Oklahoma Wesleyan attack.
The numbers reflected OKWU's command of the pitch. The Eagles outshot Bethel 30-1, placed 19 attempts on frame and generated a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks. Defensively, Oklahoma Wesleyan's back line allowed only one shot all afternoon, while Marko Rodic, Pedro Nakano and Omar Peralta combined between the posts to preserve the clean sheet.
