Matija Gligorovic

Matija Gligorovic

Matija played for FK Buducnost Podgorica (Montenegro). During that period, he made 23 appearances for the national team of Montenegro, generations U16, U17 (UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification), and U18.

He started his college career at Georgia Gwinnett College, where he successfully completed his studies and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Matija achieved remarkable success with Georgia Gwinnett College, including being twice named Goalkeeper of the Year by the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I. Conference) in 2019 and 2017. During the 2020–21 and 2019 seasons, he earned the prestigious 2x NAIA Honorable Mention All-American title. Additionally, he was a two-time All-East region selection in 2018 and 2017 and the 2019 A.I.I. All-Tournament team.

His performance led to his selection on the First All-A.I.I. team in 2019 and 2017, and the Second All-A.I.I. team in 2018. His achievements continued as he secured All-A.I.I. accolades during the 2020–21 season.

He led GGC to the quarterfinals and twice in the round of sixteen of the NAIA national tournament (2017, 2018, 2019). Notably, he won the A.I.I. titles in 2019 and 2018. He made a total of 215 saves throughout his GGC career, including 94 saves in the 2019 season.

In 2021, he transferred to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, where he continued his academic and soccer journey. During this time, he pursued his Master of Business Administration.

As an OKWU player, he won the regular season and the conference tournament titles with OKWU in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). They were ranked second in the NAIA that season. Their remarkable performance earned them a spot in the quarterfinals of the NAIA national tournament.

After concluding his successful soccer season at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, he transitioned into the next phase of his career. He took on the role of goalkeeper coach. For two years, he has been part of the coaching staff. During his first year of coaching at OKWU, they won the KCAC regular season and the KCAC tournament, as well as a spot in the NAIA Nationals.
