On Wednesday, April 14th, the #2 ranked team in the country, Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles traveled to Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS to take on the Friends University Falcons in the KCAC tournament semifinal match. The previous matchup between the two teams saw the Eagles take home the win over the Falcons 6-2.
On Wednesday, the matchup would see similar results as the previous meeting. Neither of two teams seemed to be able to get any momentum early in the game; however, the Eagles would find the back of the net four times in the first half. The goals from the Eagles would come from: Stefan Lukic (21:32 & 24:33), Luka Lukic (25:52), and Pol Mur (27:08). The Eagles would end the half with a four-goal lead, outshooting the Falcons 14-1 (SOG 8-1).
Coming out of halftime, the Eagles would score quickly with a goal from Matheus Ferreira just 4 minutes into the half. The Eagles would score only once more during the second half with another goal from Pol Mur (73:33). The Falcons would not back down despite trailing by six goals, and eventually found the back of the net in the closing minutes of the game with a goal from Judel Saintill in the 89th minute of the game.
Throughout the matchup, the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles would outshoot the Falcons 22-7 (SOG 13-3). The Eagles would also record more corner kick opportunities than the Falcons. There were quite a few fouls throughout the game, along with some cautions for both sides, the Falcons would receive 3 yellow cards and a red card, and the Eagles would receive a yellow card.
The #1 seeded Eagles will take on the #2 seeded McPherson College Bulldogs in the KCAC tournament finals. The game is set to be played on Saturday, April 17th at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, KS. The matchup is scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
