Women's Basketball Falls to Ottawa on the Road

The Women's Basketball team was on the road on Wednesday, January 31st for a 6PM tip-off with the Ottawa University Lady Braves. Looking for redemption against the Lady Braves and the opportunity to keep their win streak alive, the Lady Eagles were eager to get on the court and challenge the Lady Braves.

 

Starting off strong, both the Lady Eagles and the Lady Braves were back and forth when it came to maintaining possession and driving the ball into the paint. Ending the first quarter 18-16, the first ten minutes of play were back and forth between the two, while the Lady Eagles trailed by a small margin of 2. Falling shy in the next quarter, the Lady Eagles put up 13 more points, while the Lady Braves added a consistent 18 points to their total. Taking the half time score to 36-29 in favor of the Lady Braves.

 

Needing to come out of the locker room firing, the Lady Eagles did just that with their best quarter in the 3rd. Cutting the deficit to 4, the Lady Eagles looked to carry the energy over the Lady Braves, but fell short with an 18-point fourth quarter from the Lady Braves. The Lady Eagles fell to the Lady Braves 69-62 as they fought through the 40 minutes of play.

 

Ty'Najah Mitchell and Haley Meely lead the Lady Eagles on the floor, combining for 23 of the 62 points form the Lady Eagles. Haley Meely continues to show her presence on the floor for the Lady Eagles as she led the Lady Eagles in assists and rebounds.

The Lady Eagles are back in Bartlesville this upcoming Saturday for another conference match-up with the University of Saint Mary Spires. Tip off is set for 3PM on February 3rd here in Bartlesville.
