The #9 Women's Soccer team hosted the Evangel University Lady Valor on October 16
th for a mid-season KCAC match-up. Coming off of a tie against York University the previous Saturday, the Lady Eagles entered the match-up against the Lady Valor 10-0-3 overall and looked to earn back some momentum with a conference win.
Starting off the first 19 minutes with strong possessions and a majority of control of the ball, the Lady Eagles looked strong as they drove the ball into the box every touch of the ball. With a strong defensive display from the Lady Valor, the Lady Eagles fought through defenders in the 19
th minute as
Tania Mocholi scored the first goal of the game, and her 18
th on the season. Assisted by
Laura Gieseler, the Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead with 25 minutes left of play.
Ending the first half with a 1-0 lead, the Lady Eagles dominated offensively, while the Lady Valor proved to be a strong defensive force. Starting off the second half quickly, the Lady Eagles were able to drive the ball up-field and score their second goal of the game off the foot of
Tania Mocholi. Her 19
th goal on the season, and a 2-0 lead, the Lady Eagles looked smooth with 40 minutes left of play.
The back line for the Lady Eagles was stellar against the Lady Valor, led by
Elise Lofnertz, the Lady Eagles were not only able to keep the Lady Valor off of the scoreboard, but shut their offense down completely allowing them to take zero shots. Outshooting the Lady Valor 25 to 0, with 18 shots on goal, the Lady Eagles took the game 2-0 and improved to 11-0-3 on the season.
The Lady Eagles are back on their home field this upcoming Saturday for a conference match-up against the Kansas Wesleyan University Lady Coyotes for a 5:00PM kick-off.
