The #2 Men's Soccer team hosted the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes for a weekend conference match-up on October 19
th. Entering the match-up undefeated, the Eagles needed to be quick to the punch in order to secure another conference win.
A slow start for the Eagles, gave way to a back and forth battle between the two teams. With 9 seconds left in the 1
st, the Coyotes drew a foul 3 yards out of the box; giving way to their first goal off of a free kick. Ending the first half trailing 1-0, the Eagles were entered the second with their backs up against the wall and a need to fight.
Forcing shots in the first 20 minutes of the second half, the Eagles brought in fresh legs off the bench in order to create change and momentum while trailing. Coming off of the bench,
Matheus Ulrich was just what the Eagles needed, scoring the first and second goal for the Eagles, giving them a 2-1 lead in the 76
th minute.
A rather chipper game, both teams faced many fouls and accumulated cards in the 90 minutes of play. Ending the match-up with a 3-1 score in favor of the Eagles, the Eagles improve to 13-1 on the season. Outshooting the Coyotes 20 to 8 with 12 shots on goal allowed the Eagles to take the victory over the Coyotes. In goal for the Eagles,
Marko Rodic was impressive with 4 saves and multiple defensive switches to lead the Eagles to another win.
The Eagles are back on the road this upcoming Wednesday for a match-up against the University of Saint Mary Spires in Leavenworth, Kansas.
