Hosting another KCAC opponent, the #9 Women's Soccer team faced off against the Avila University Lady Eagles for a midafternoon kick-off. The Lady Eagles entered the match-up 7-0-2 on the season and held an undefeated record in conference play, while Avila entered 6-1-2 undefeated in conference play as well. A battle of two conference competitors ended as a back and forth victory for the Lady Eagles with a 2-0 score.
A pretty solid match-up between the two, both teams held strong possessions of the ball throughout the first 20 minutes. Comin gin clutch for the Lady Eagles,
Taylor Witthauer put one in the back corner for the first goal of the game, assisted by
Daniela Ortiz. With a 1-0 lead, the game remained tight and both teams fought for shots over a strong defense.
Entering the second with a tight lead, the Lady Eagles pushed the pace and increased their shots with 20 minutes left of play. IN the 85
th minute, the Lady Eagles earned an opportunity with a foul right outside of the box for another chance to score. Doing so, the Lady Eagles took a 2-0 lead with a goal from
Tania Mocholi.
Taking the 2-0 victory, the Lady Eagles improve to 8-0-2 and keep an undefeated record in conference play. The Lady Eagles are back in action on Saturday, October 5
th for a Homecoming match-up against the Sterling College Lady Warriors for a 1:00PM kick-off.
