The Women's Basketball team hosted #9 Dakota Wesleyan University on November 1
st for a home opener match-up and kick off of the 2024-2025 season.
With a very strong start, the Lady Eagles were quick to the ball and strong in the paint. Scoring first against the Lady Tigers and keeping up a very efficient pace. A back and forth ball game through the first 10 minutes of play, the Lady Eagles trailed 19-16 and looked to stay firm in the paint. Slowing in the second, the Lady Tigers found momentum and took a lengthier lead from the Lady Eagles as the Lady Eagles went to score 12 in the 2
nd. After the first half, the Lady Eagles trailed 38-28 to the Lady Tigers and looked to fight back in the 2
nd half.
Coming out of the locker room with new found energy, the Lady Eagles firing; scoring often and keeping the Lady Tigers to a scoring minimum. A 10 point deficit, the Lady Eagles pushed the pace against the Lady Tigers, but were unable to outscore them as they went on to score 20 in the fourth. The Lady Eagles fell to the #9 DWU Lady Tigers in a well fought match-up.
Haley Meely started right where she left off last season, on fire. Scoring 22 of the Lady Eagles 60 points, Meely was outstanding against the Lady Tigers, leading the Lady Eagles and accumulating 3 assists and 5 rebounds. Along with Meely,
Zariah Tillman was also excellent scoring 10, accumulating 3 assists and 3 steals.
The Lady Eagles are back in action this upcoming Friday as they travel to Forth Worth, Texas for the Texas Wesleyan University Invitational.
