The Women's Basketball team hosted the Avila University Lady Eagles on December 4
th for a quick, prebreak match-up. Both teams looking to earn their first win in conference play, both were eager to jump out early and score early and often.
Jumping on the board first, OKWU was fierce and strong through the first 10 minutes of play. Outscoring their opponent 17-4, giving themselves room to breathe and exciting momentum looking into the final 30 minutes of play. Slowing in the second, the Lady Eagles scored 13, while their opponent scored 14. Heading into the second half with a lead, the Lady Eagles exploded offensively; scoring 32 points in the 3
rd quarter. With control, the Lady Eagles took home the win over Avila with a final score of 71-48.
Four Lady Eagles were in double digit scoring on the night, leading the way was
Khassidy Warr with 18 points, going 7-9 in the paint and 4-4 from the free throw line. Defensively,
Shade Richardson was excellent, accumulating 9 rebounds and 3 steals for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles are back on the road this upcoming Saturday, as they are set to face off against the Sterling College Lady Warrior's in Sterling, Kansas.
