Softball Celebrates 6 Seniors

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bartlesville, OK –

The OKWU Softball team played their final home game of the 2024 season on April 23rd, facing off against the McPherson College Lady Bulldogs. Looking to end their 2024 conference play on a high note, and celebrate their seniors on Senior Day; the Lady Eagles were eager to take the field and have themselves a day.

Game 1 v. McPherson College (L 2-0)
Starting off game 1, the Lady Bulldogs were quick to the punch as they scored a run on two back-to-back doubles, leaving the Lady Eagles trailing 1-0 right off the bat. Looking to fight back and regain a lead, the Lady Eagles were able to get a few on base through the seven innings of play, but this was not enough as they Lady Bulldogs added another run to the board in the 4th.  
Jewell Caudle, Jess Watson, and Maddy Wiese were the only 3 Lady Eagles to earn a hit in game 1, as the Lady Eagles offense struggled against the Lady Bulldogs pitcher Johnson. Maddy Weise was in the circle for the Lady Eagles, giving up 7 hits and two runs. The Lady Eagles fell 2-0 in game one and looked to bounce back in game 2.

Game 2 v. McPherson College (W 9-1 5 Innings)
Giving up a run in the 1st inning, the Lady Eagles turned around and evened up the score 1-1 heading into the second, finding momentum, the Lady Eagles were fierce in the box as they tallied on 8 more runs throughout the 5 innings of play. Having their best inning in the 3rd, the Lady Eagles scored 5 runs bringing the game to a run rule opportunity.
Jess Watson was superb in the box for the Lady Eagles, going 3-3 with 2 RBI's to lead the Lady Eagles to a 9-1 win. Madison Gabaeu had her first start of the season in game two, throwing 1.2 innings and giving up 1 run to earn the win for the Lady Eagles. Saige Smith threw the remainder of the game, striking out 3 and only allowing 2 hits.

HIGHLIGHTS
The Lady Eagles celebrated their 6 seniors in between games, looking to see them walk the stage this upcoming May. OKWU softball celebrates Lacey Coffman, Madison Gabaeu, Ariana Potter, Jillian Blair, Ashleigh McCause, Kylee Erickson as they look to graduate this May along with the class of 2024.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The Lady Eagles are back in action this upcoming week in Great Bend, Kansas for the KCAC Tournament as they look to continue their season.
