The #13 Volleyball team hosted Mid-America Christian University and Mission University for a home opener tri-match on August 27
th as they looked to continue to push their way up in the national polls. Taking 2 wins on the day, the Lady Eagles improve to 6-1 on the season and find momentum heading into a weekend of volleyball in Waxahachie, Texas.
Game 1 vs. Mission University
25-19,25-13,25-15
Starting off the 3 set win with a back and forth battle between the two teams, the Lady Eagles gained ground on the Lady Patriots, going on a 4-0 run to take the first set 25-19. Picking up where they left off in the second, the Lady Eagles were quick to the punch in the second set; rallying behind 2 5 point runs throughout the 25-13 second set win.
Grace Bybee started the Lady Eagles off hot in the 3
rd set, with a 6-point rally to give the Lady Eagles a 6-0 lead early, making way to a 25-15 win.
Evelyn Rohrberg and
Maddy McKinney were an offensive force for the Lady Eagles against Mission University, combing for 28 of the 49 kills on the game. Defensively for the Lady Eagles, Malu Caycedo and
Jordan Isbell were superb, combing for 21 digs of the Lady Eagles 40.
Game 2 vs. Mid-America Christian University
25-23, 25-15, 25-11
Another impressive offensive display from the Lady Eagles led to a three-set sweep over the Lady Evangels. Reece
Parris and
Maia Rubio showed out for the Lady Eagles, combing for 17 kills and both putting up blocks at the net.
Sydney Collins had herself an all-around great game, ending the three set victory with 41 assists and 10 digs.
The Lady Eagles hit the road this upcoming weekend for the Nelson university Invitational in Waxahachie, Texas.
