Box Score Bartlesville, OK –
The #6 Men's Soccer team opened conference play on Wednesday night against the Southwestern College Moundbuilders as they looked to open conference on an high note. Coming into the match with a 3-1 overall record, the Eagles were determined to take shots and make the Moundbuilders defense work.
Starting up the offense early, the Eagles jumped ahead with a goal off the foot of
Matheus Ulrich, assisted by
Kirill Pakhomov at 6:42. After the goal, the match-up remained steady with the Eagles maintaining control of the ball a majority of the final 39 minutes of the half.
Heading into the 2
nd half with a lead, both teams sought possession of the ball, while the Eagles took advantage of every shot possible. Taking 14 shots in the second half enabled the Eagles to pull ahead and drive their offense up field in order to score 3 more goals from
Pol Mur, Lucas Miranda, and Adriana Mejia.
The Eagles were superb on both sides of the field in the 90 minutes of play, ending the night outshooting the Moundbuilders 27-3, scoring 4 goals, and keeping their opponent off of the scoreboard. Sharing the shutout, goal keepers
Oliver Scott and
Marko Rodic ended the night with a save a piece and relied on their stellar defense on the field from their team.
The Eagles improve to 4-1 on the season as they make their way into conference play and out of preseason play. The Eagles are on the road for their next conference match-up against the Bethel College Threshers on Saturday at 1:00PM in Bethel, Kansas.
