The Women's Basketball team faced off against the York University Lady Panthers on January 18
th for a conference match-up and a chance to improve in the KCAC rankings. Coming into the match-up 5-6 in conference, the Lady Eagles needed to put together a strong performance to tie up their record and get to a 9-9 overall record.
Starting off the first quarter quite slow, the Lady Eagles fell quickly as the Lady Panthers took an early 11-0 lead. Concluding the first quarter trailing 26-15, both teams slowed as the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Panthers 10-9. Heading out of the first half trailing 35-25 and in need of high energy out of the locker room.
Stepping back on the floor explosive, the Lady Eagles put up 25 in the third quarter; holding the Lady Panthers to a minimal 12 and taking their first lead of the game. Fighting back quickly, the Lady Panthers were able to tie the game with 3 seconds left; forcing both teams into overtime.
The Lady Eagles erupted in overtime, scoring a solid 17 points to take the overtime victory from the Lady Panthers.
Shade Richardson was phenomenal for the Lady Eagles, scoring a career-high 32 points in her 44 minutes of play, accumulating 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 7 steals.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Wednesday on our home court against Evangel University at 6 PM.
