OKWU women's volleyball team bounced back from last week's loss with a 3-1 win over University of Sait Mary. The Eagles, now 17-2 on the year, showed their strength and poise winning the first, third, and fourth set in this KCAC matchup.
The Lady Eagles had standout performances across the board. Evelyn Rohrberg executed 21 Kills, Maia Rubio with 14 kills, Maria Sanra Cruz with 8 kills, and Tijana Stojilijkovic adding 6 of her own. Setter Sydney Collins orchestrated the attack with 44 assists, while also contributing 7 digs. OKWU finished the match with 53 kills, 137 total attacks while holding USM to just 50 kills and a .104 hitting percentage.
On the defensive side of the game, Malu Cacyedo was impressive, tallying 22 digs adding to OKWU's total of 66 digs compared to USM's 61. Even with a loss in the 2nd set, the Lady Eagles overall controlled the game and established they are still a top tier team in the KCAC and NAIA.
With this win, the Eagles look to extend their win streak heading into their next matchup. OKWU will face-off against Kansas Wesleyan University at home on October 18th at 2:00 PM. GO EAGLES!
