OKWU women's soccer continued their dominant run through conference play with a 2-0 road win over Kansas Wesleyan. The Eagles, now 13-1-1 overall and a perfect 10-0-0 in KCAC, showcased their talent in this match that was never in doubt.
Midfielder Laura Gieseler opened the scoring in the 21st minute, capitalizing on early pressure with her fourth shot that gave OKWU the lead and set the tone. Gieseler led all players with six shots, four on goal, and was a constant threat in the midfield.
The second half saw freshman Kylie Reif double the advantage in the 61st minute off a well-placed assist from Tessa Edwards. Reif's goal marked her second of the season and sealed the win for the Eagles.
Defensively, OKWU was rock-solid. Goalkeeper Alessandra Martinez recorded three saves earning her seventh clean sheet of the year, backed by a backline that allowed just six total shots. Edwards, Bruhns, and Lofnertz anchored a defense that KWU at bay.
OKWU outshot KWU 10-6 and matched them in corner kicks (4-4), but it was the Lady Eagles' efficiency and composure that made the difference.
The Eagles return home next week looking to extend their unbeaten conference streak and continue building momentum toward postseason play. The Lady Eagles will face-off against Bethany College on October 25th at 2:00 PM. Go Eagles!
