The Oklahoma Wesleyan men's basketball team opened its 2025–26 season in impressive fashion Friday night, defeating Georgia Gwinnett 84–63 inside the Brooks Walton Activity Center in Skiatook.
After trailing 36–31 at halftime, the Eagles surged ahead with a dominant second half, outscoring the Grizzlies 53–27. OKWU shot an impressive 61.1% from the field after the break and forced 24 turnovers, turning defense into offense with 26 points off giveaways.
Senior guard Temaje Izuagbe led the way with a game-high 29 points, connecting on 12-of-19 shots, including five from the 3-point line. Nick Bene recorded a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Yashi McKenzie added 10 points, three steals, and three assists. Ethan Williams and Humberto Kentish Jr. each dished out five assists, helping the Eagles spread the floor and move the ball effectively on offense.
As a team, the Eagles shot 49.3% from the field and 37% from the 3-point line while tallying 21 assists and 21 steals. OKWU also held a 42–24 advantage in points in the paint, showing strong execution on both ends of the floor.
The Eagles will return to action tomorrow evening at 7:30, remaining in Skiatook to face No. 4 Langston University in another non-conference matchup inside the Brooks Walton Activity Center.
