In an intense and tightly contested matchup, OKWU men's basketball came up just short against Langston University, falling 73-70 in a game that went down to the final seconds. 
The Eagles now 1-1 on the season, led 30–26 at halftime showing strong defensive effort and efficient shooting early on. Temaje Izuagbe led the charge with 19 points, including three three-pointers and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Nick Bene added 14 points and six rebounds, while Yashi McKenzie contributed 9 points and two steals. 
Despite the early lead, Langston surged in the second half, outscoring Oklahoma Wesleyan 47–40. The Lions capitalized on second-chance opportunities and bench depth, scoring 18 second-chance points and 30 points off the bench. 
Oklahoma Wesleyan had a chance to tie the game in the final moments after Ethan Williams hit a clutch three-pointer to give the Eagles a brief 69–68 lead with 41 seconds remaining. However, Langston responded with a jumper and free throws to seal the win. 
The Eagles shot soild from the field but were on the low end from beyond the arc. Langston matched closely with shooting and from three. Free throws proved crucial, with Langston converting 84% of their attempts compared to Oklahoma Wesleyan's 62.5%. 
Despite the loss, the Eagles showed impressive tools and depth, with 16 bench points and 32 points in the paint. They'll look to bounce back in their next game and build on the promising performances from their core players. The Eagles will now face off against MidAmerica Nazarene on November 4th, 7:00 PM at home. Go Eagles!
