BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Oklahoma Wesleyan University's wrestling program opened its 2025-26 season on a high note Friday evening, posting a convincing 44-12 conference victory over Bethany (Kan.) at Mueller Sports Center.
The Eagles wasted little time establishing control, securing forfeits at 125, 133, 149, and 157 pounds before recording quality bonus-point wins at 141 and 197 pounds.
Ryan Dement and
Carter Manley each posted technical falls, while
Peyton Callis added a quick fall at 184 pounds.
"It was a great way to start the season with a conference win at home," said Head Coach Tom Lowry. "
Ryan Dement and
Carter Manley wrestled outstanding matches with their technical falls, and that kind of dominance is what we need to see consistently.
Easton Olenberger showed he can build momentum and put himself in position to win—now we need to see him maintain that throughout the match. Overall, it's a solid foundation to build on, and we'll use these next few days to clean things up before heading to Friends."
Dement dominated his match at 141 pounds, earning a first period technical fall over Cabel Boggus with a 21-6 advantage at 2:46 of the first period. Manley delivered a similarly impressive performance at 197 pounds, securing a 21-6 technical fall over Oliver Fechner in 2:35.
At 174 pounds, Olenberger controlled his match against Angel Locust, earning a major decision, 14-6. Callis provided an exclamation point at 184 pounds with a quick fall over Ali Dorisca in just 53 seconds.
OKWU improves to 1-0 on the season and remains undefeated in conference play. The Eagles will hit the road for their next dual match on Thursday, November 20, traveling to Friends University.
