Men's basketball took off to Lindsborg Kansas to face off against Bethany College for the second time this season on February 1
st for a 3PM tip-off. The Eagles put on an electrifying performance beating Bethany College 71-56! Right from the tip-off, Oklahoma Wesleyan set the tone for the game. The Eagles wasted no time in establishing control, scoring quickly and efficiently. Their defense was great shutting down Bethany College's offense at every turn.
The Eagles shot an outstanding 53.33% from the field in the first half, making 16 of their 30 attempts. Led by a balanced scoring effort, OKWU's offense ran smoothly, with players like
Jaden Lietzke and
Derrick Talton Jr. stepping up and showcasing their talent. Lietzke had a standout performance, finishing with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, leading the team in scoring. His combination of inside presence and mid-range shooting gave Bethany trouble all night. Talton Jr. also contributed 9 points and played a key role in both scoring and distributing the ball with 6 assists, helping to control the offense.
The second half saw Key contributions came from
Isaac Stanek, who added 9 points and provided crucial leadership on the court, and
Dylan Phillip, who chipped in with 10 points, including a pair of three-pointers that helped extend the Eagles' lead even further. The Eagles continued to overwhelm Bethany on the defensive end, grabbing 49 rebounds, with 12 coming from offensive boards. The team's ability to control the glass allowed them to limit Bethany's second-chance opportunities and keep the pressure on throughout the game.
The OKWU Eagles next match-up will be at home on February 5
th, 2025, at 7:00 PM as they face off against Southwestern College for the second time this season with OKWU defeating them in their first match-up 75-71. The Eagles are staying hot with a 7-game winning streak, and we look forward to another dominating performance in the coming days.
