Coming off a win on Wednesday, the Lady Eagles were eager to face another conference opponent in their Saturday afternoon match-up on February 1st. This road game took the Eagles to Lindsborg, KS, where they played Bethany College. Unfortunately, despite a strong effort, the Eagles came up short, finishing with a 61-69 loss.
Both teams came out strong, battling back and forth for control of the game. At halftime, the score was tied 31-31. The Lady Eagles displayed excellent teamwork, with nine players contributing to the 61 points scored on the night.
The standout player of the game was
Haley Meely, who finished with 23 points. In addition to her scoring, she added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals. Meely was a perfect 4-for-5 from the free-throw line and shot 50% from behind the 3-point line.
Jaelin Glass also had an impressive performance, making 4 of her 8 shots (50%) and adding a steal to the Eagles' 11 total steals.
Rashaan Smith was another key contributor, shooting 50% from the field for 10 points, along with 2 steals, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds. Smith played a crucial role on both offense and defense, adding 2 blocks to help slow down the Swedes.
Shade Richardson was a force on defense, grabbing 7 rebounds and adding 5 points and an assist.
Zariah Tillman went 1-for-1 at the free-throw line, and while her three-point shooting was off, she still managed to contribute 5 points for her team.
While the game didn't end the way the Lady Eagles had hoped, they showed great effort and played a strong game overall. The Lady Eagles' record now stands at 10-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play.
