Baseball

Bartlesville, OK –

The OKWU Baseball team started out their season 3-0 with a clean sweep over the Ecclesia College Royals in late January. Looking to build on their season early, the Eagles faced off against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy Eutectic's for a weekend series.  Sweeping the Eutectics, the Eagles improved to 6-0 and show grit through their first 6 games of play.

GAME 1 (7-2, W)

Starting off game one in the driver's seat, the Eagles score often and early with a 2-run inning in the first, followed by a two-run inning in the 4th. In the box, the Eagles were disciplined and quick to the punch, ending the 9-inning game with 8 hits, and a solo homer from Connor Hickey. Leading the Eagles at the plate, Ravaughn Morgan and Connor Hickey were both superb. Morgan going 2-3 with 2 RBI's, while Hickey ended his play going 2-4 with 2 RBI's along side Morgan.

On the bump for the Eagles, Evan Foor earned his second win of the season; striking out 3, allowing 4 hits, and 0 runs in his 3 innings of play. Contributing to the win on the bump, Ashton Luera, Alan Covarrubias, Zachariah Ray, and Hunter Hansen closed out the game; only allowing 2 runs in 6 innings for the staff.

GAME 2 (15-5, W)

Starting game two right where they left off in game one, the Eagles had an explosive 3rd inning against the Eutectic's, scoring 10 runs on 8 hits. An explosive day at the plate for the Eagles, with the help of Javier Marcial. Marical ended game two hitting a perfect 1000, scoring 3 runs, and racking up 7 RBI's for the Eagles. Luis Antigua and Chase Pinheiro followed closely behind Marcial with 5 combined RBI's on the game.

In his second start of the season, Michael Mendoza got the job done on the mound for the Eagles. In his four innings of play, Mendoza struck out two, allowed 3 hits, and 1 run. With an explosive offense and strong pitching, the Eagles were able to take home another win in high fashion.

GAME 3 (23-13, W)

Game one and two were not enough for the Eagles, as they went on to completely dominate in the final game of the three-game series. Outscoring the Eutectics 23-3, the Eagles were on complete fire at the plate, with 17 hits, 11 walks, and a whopping 8 home runs throughout the 7-inning run rule. Victor Sanchez and Ravaughn Morgan were key contributors to the 23-13 win, combining for 7 of the 22 RBI's on the day. Altogether, 8 different Eagles accounted for an RBI, making way to an all-around team win.
