Lady Eagles Fall to Evangel University

Springfield, MO —

Game 1: The OKWU Lady Eagles fall to Evangel 8-0
The Lady Eagles were held to just three hits with singles from Alyssa Olivas, Jessica Watson, and Abby Huie as Evangel's pitcher kept the OKWU bats quiet throughout the game. Despite good contact at times, OKWU couldn't find the timely hits needed to generate momentum.
Teri Stanton got the start in the circle for Oklahoma Wesleyan and allowed three runs over two innings of work. Saige Lovelle and Lydia Polk came on in relief, but Evangel continued to apply pressure offensively, pushing across five more runs before the game was called after five innings.
Defensively, the Eagles made some strong plays but were unable to fully contain Evangel's aggressive base running, including four stolen bases.

Game 2: The OKWU Lady Falls to Evangel in Tight 3-0 Contest
The Lady Eagles struggled to get the offense rolling, collecting just two hits in the game — singles from Kami Withem and Abby Huie. OKWU had a couple of opportunities to break through, drawing two walks and putting runners on base, but couldn't find the big hit to push a run across.
In the circle, Gabby Simpson put together a strong effort despite the loss, tossing a complete game while giving up just six hits and three earned runs over five innings. She struck out three and kept the Lady Valor's bats relatively quiet outside of a three-run home run in the third inning that proved to be the difference.
Oklahoma Wesleyan showed grit defensively and stayed within striking distance the entire way, but Evangel's pitcher matched every threat, keeping OKWU off the board.

The Lady Eagles will look to regroup and use the experience to fuel them in future postseason opportunities. The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to the Conference tournament. Go Eagles!
