OKWU Men's Soccer faced a tough road test against Ottawa University ending in a hard-fought 1-1. The Eagles, now 4-0-3 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, struck early but were unable to hold off a late surge from the Braves.
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Biel Campo netting the opening goal just two minutes into the match. Campo's goal was Oklahoma Wesleyan's only shot on target for the night, as the team managed five total shots compared to Ottawa's 14. Despite the limited offensive chances, the Eagles' defense held strong for most of the match.
Goalkeeper Stefan Schenk was a standout performer, recording five saves, including two crucial stops on penalty kicks that kept the Eagles in the game. Joao Vitor Gomes, Luis Vergara, and Adrian Mejia each contributed with shot attempts, while the team earned seven corner kicks, showing moments of attacking pressure.
The Brave's tying goal came in the 87th minute just moments after Schenk's second penalty save. With hard-fought effort throughout the match the Eagles couldn't find the back of the net for the winning goal.
Oklahoma Wesleyan will look to bounce back and return to the win column when they host Bethel College on September 27th at 7:30 PM. GO EAGLES
